Thursday, 13th June – Bergen

We had pre-booked a Rødne Fjord Cruise that was a 3 hour round trip from Bergen to Mostraumen. It had cost us 650 NOK or approximately $100 AUD each and left first thing this morning.

The weather was not ideal. Unfortunately it was really overcast with misty rain but we decided that whilst the beautiful blue colours of the fjord would not be on show, it was still worth taking the cruise and seeing the fjord from a different perspective.

The cruise left Bergen from the Zachariasbryggen in the Vågen Bay travelling through the 27km long Osterfjord.

During the trip the fjord narrows between steep mountains and moves through the shallow and narrow Mostraumen strait.

The boat got extremely close to a natural waterfall as it performed a slow but efficient u-turn to take us back to  Bergen.

On the way back there were some sunny patches that made the mountains a beautiful backdrop.

Unfortunately when we got back to Bergen the rain was really heavy so we took shelter in a cafe and treated ourselves to an extremely delicious hot chocolate. After an hour the rain hadn’t let up and when we consulted the radar it seemed like it was set in for the rest of the day. We took the bus back to our Airbnb and spent the rest of the afternoon watching a movie, enjoying a glass of wine and some home cooked dinner.

Still no Moose!
